Mom Hack Monday: Overnight Hair Styling
Make Morning Hair Styling as Easy as a Nap
If you’re the mom of a little girl who isn’t quite at the age of being able to do their own hair, you probably feel the same pressure I do about how to send them to daycare or school looking put together, without over doing it. Using curling irons and other heat stylers can damage young hair strands (Lord knows they have a lifetime of adulthood to fry their hair!) Often times, youngsters want nothing to do with sitting quietly for you to straighten or add a little curl. My daughter absolutely despises the blow dryer, so that option is out too.
Sending my daughter to school without doing anything to her hair is fine, but once she hit two years old, her tresses started to look a little unkempt. She wanted long hair, but was not blessed with pin straight or perfect curls where air drying would be enough. That’s when I discovered the Sleep Styler curlers. These heatless rollers are put in her hair when it’s about 80% dry and she sleeps in them overnight. They are a super absorbent microfiber and extremely soft. It takes just a few minutes for me to put them in her hair following her bath, and they are practically fool proof. Brynna has no issue sleeping in them. In the morning, she wakes up with beautifully curly hair that I gently brush to smooth. Her hair is shiny and soft and the curls last most of the day. It’s truly that simple!
There are other heatless styling methods I’ve heard moms use. These include braids, hair wrapping, and space buns. I encourage you to explore Youtube or other online forums for simple tricks to help make the morning grind a little easier. Try a few different methods out and see what works for your kiddo. Be patient with yourself, and with her. It took Brynna and I a few different methods before we discovered the Sleep Style rollers.
